Power Automate

INTRODUCTION

Microsoft Power Automate (formerly known as Microsoft Flow) is a cloud-based software tool for automating workflow and business processes. It enables users to create and automate workflows between different applications and services without writing code. Power Automate integrates with a wide range of applications such as Microsoft 365, Salesforce, Dropbox, and many others, to streamline tasks and improve productivity. It allows users to automate repetitive tasks, collect data, and receive notifications, making work more efficient and freeing up time for more important tasks.

Summary

This 8-hour hands-on course provides a deep dive into Microsoft’s Power Automate program.

Delivery Method

The class is delivered in a Hands-On Session (either live in-person or virtual) for up to 15 students.

Target Audience

The course is designed to teach businesspeople without any programming skills how to become Citizen Developers, creating custom solutions using low code / no code functionality.

Technical Level

The course is taught for level 100 Beginner, through level 200 intermediate skilled workers.

Prerequisites

To participate in hands-on exercises, students will need a Microsoft 365 license with usage rights for Power Automate. No Pro or Premium licenses are needed for the training.

  • Setting up a Microsoft Power Automate account

  • Overview of Microsoft Power Automate Licensing


Creating Desktop Flow Automation - (9 am-10 am)

  • Using Power Automation Desktop

  • Recording user steps to build RPA.

  • Creating a process to flatten file structures.

  • Automatic collecting of data from the Internet.


Understanding and Creating your First Power Automate Flow - (10 am-11:30 am)

  • Overview of the Power Automate canvas

  • Types of Power Automate Flows

  • Understanding Triggers and Actions

  • Demonstration of creating a simple flow using Power Automate

  • Understanding the different components of a flow

  • Best practices for designing and testing flows

 

Lunch Break - (11:30 am–12:30 pm)


Advanced Power Automate Flow Features - (12:30 pm -3 pm)

  • Understanding expressions and variables in Power Automate

  • Using conditions and loops in Power Automate

  • Using Power Automate to interact with other Microsoft services.

  • Adding AI/ML services to Power Automate


Afternoon break - (3 pm-3:15pm)


Integration with Power Apps and Monitoring and Managing Power Automate Flows - (3:15 pm-4:30 pm)

  • Overview of Power Automate integration with PowerApps and Power Virtual Agents

  • Overview of Power Automate Dashboard and Logs

  • Understanding the process of flow run history and its usage

  • Best practices for monitoring and troubleshooting Power Automate flows


Conclusion - (4:30 pm-5 pm)

  • Summary of the key concepts covered in the training

  • Overview of available resources for further learning

  • Open Q&A session for any remaining questions or concerns.
