In India, many farmers do not know which crops to grow or how to grow them. Because of this, they often do not get the maximum yield from their land. And without this knowledge, they cannot save time or money. Different soils have distinctive characteristics and knowing the condition of these elements can greatly increase yields and profits.

According to a McKinsey report, farmers in India need to be supported through soil health cards and trained on seed treatment and prevention of weeds, diseases, and insects to improve both the yield and the quality of the produce. We have been able to reach out to 914 farmers with the help of expert agricultural scientists and empower them with the knowledge about the soil health of their farmlands.

According to another McKinsey report, one of the most direct routes to addressing rural poverty is focusing on the productivity of the agricultural sector to lift the incomes of the smallholder farmers. The lack of efficient irrigation systems coupled with poor farming practices hamper yield improvement. With the building of check dams, the health of the soil in the village has improved greatly. These dams help in the sustainable management of natural resources, irrigation, and improve soil quality. The vermi-compost center constructed in the outskirts of the village also facilitates soil enrichment in the area.
