Improving Education

According to McKinsey, despite the efforts made by the government like the Sarva Siksha Abhiyaan mission and the midday meal scheme, the quality of education in India continues to need focus. To that end, the Feuji Foundation launched a project called ‘Gyana Jyoti.’

The village consists of 2 Anganwadi centers, the Mandal Parishad Primary School, and the Zilla Parishad High School. The proposal to convert the high school into an English medium school has been already submitted to the District Education Officer. The Mandal Parishad Primary School was declared as an English Medium School in the year 2016-2017 by the then Collector of the district, Shri Satyanarayana. With the new English-based curriculum, six more teachers were recruited, and all the subjects were taught only in English.

We aim to provide an environment where children will enjoy working hard to achieve their goals. Therefore, we focus on providing the best infrastructure possible such as colorful benches and chairs in all the classrooms, a projector, and a pair of school uniforms. Weekly training programs and an effective curriculum are planned by the trained staff members from Teach for India. Six bathrooms were also constructed so that the children can maintain hygiene. This school has been able to not only retain its students, who have been moving out of the school for lack of infrastructure but has also experienced growth in the number of enrolments.

This project aims to empower teachers and students in schools by providing resources and facilities that are needed for a good quality education. We have tried to create an environment conducive to learning so that learning can become effective and enjoyable.
