Helping schools thrive

One of the major challenges in India is the lack of equal opportunities for all. Manohar Reddy believes that education is crucial for overcoming poverty, and he has made it his mission in life to see rural children get access to the same opportunities as city-dwelling children.

The village consists of 2 Anganwadi centers, the Mandal Parishad Primary School, and the Zilla Parishad High School. The primary school of the village was renovated, and toilets were improved. The villagers actively came forward to make these developments possible.

We believe that a balanced diet is essential for a child to grow properly. To improve the quality of the mid-day meals, the scheme, Annadata Suki Bhava, was launched. Under this scheme, instead of the one-rupee rice provided by the government, Masuri rice, dal, rasam, sambar, buttermilk, and eggs were provided for the students at least twice a week. The funds for this scheme were generated by the Village Development Committee. Manohar Reddy and his friends contributed 3 lakh rupees for this cause.

With the successful completion of one academic year, the word spread in the surrounding areas, and neighboring villages. The strength of the school more than doubled from 60 to 135 students for the next academic year, 2017-2018.

The KYAN digital education kit was supplied to the schools to enable children to acquaint themselves with the fundamentals of computers and classroom-based digital learning.
